3D Printing Material report

PLA, or polylactic acid, is a commonly used 3D printing material. It is a 3D printing material widely used in basic entry, education and training applications. Known as the “fool class” printing material.

PLA’s biodegradable and bioactive thermoplastic polyester capacitors made from natural products such as corn starch make it more environmentally friendly than other plastics. PLA can be used for parts, prototypes and products that do not need to withstand high pressures. PLA has good compatibility, degradability, mechanical and physical properties, suitable for extrusion, blow molding, injection molding and other processing methods, easy processing, and is widely used.

PLA material advantages:

1. Accurate deposition of each layer brings good surface quality;

2, easy post-processing;

3, biodegradable, easy to get close to the printing process, enjoy the fun of printing;

4, print a variety of colors, cola enjoy the beauty of colorful;

5, compared with other printing materials, lower printing temperature;

6, compared with other printing materials, there are lower printing technical requirements, easier for beginners;

7, the material price is more close to the people.

The disadvantages of PLA are also obvious:

1, because it is easy to degrade, so the material itself is not long, and the printed product is not weather resistant;

2, storage conditions compared with other materials, the storage conditions are slightly harsh, especially to avoid light, avoid humidity;

3, the printed finished product compared with other materials, its strength and other material performance indicators are low, and there is a big gap from the life durability level and industrial application level.

The development of PLA, “PLA+” is an emerging product in the industry in recent years, the main feature is to retain some of the original advantages, improve the original shortcomings.

3D printing materials are one of the midstream links supporting 3D printing, according to statistics, 3D printing materials are mainly divided into metal materials and non-metallic materials two categories.

Metallic material

Among them, metal materials are mainly in the form of powder, which generally requires high purity, good sphericity, narrow particle size distribution, and low oxygen content. At present, the metal powder materials used in 3D printing are mainly titanium alloy, cobalt-chromium alloy, stainless steel and aluminum alloy materials, in addition to gold, silver and other precious metal powder materials used for printing jewelry.

Non-metallic material

The application of non-metals is relatively wide, mainly including engineering plastics, photosensitive resins, synthetic rubber, ceramics and other non-metallic materials. Engineering plastics are currently widely used 3D printing materials, with impact resistance, heat resistance, anti-aging and other characteristics; Liquid photosensitive resin is widely used in the production of parts with high precision because of its fast curing rate, high temperature resistance and photosensitivity. Synthetic rubber has good tensile strength, mainly used in medical equipment, automotive interior and other fields; Ceramics have good chemical stability and strong corrosion resistance, and are widely used in aerospace, biological industry and other fields.

Engineering plastics refers to industrial plastics used as industrial parts or shell materials, which are plastics with excellent strength, impact resistance, heat resistance, hardness and aging resistance. Engineering plastics are a kind of 3D printing materials widely used at present, including acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) materials, polycarbonate (PC) materials, nylon materials and so on. ABS material is fused deposition modeling (FDM, fused deposition modeling) rapid prototyping process commonly used thermoplastic engineering plastics, with high strength, good toughness, impact resistance and other advantages, the normal deformation temperature of more than 90℃, can be mechanical processing (drilling, tapping), painting and plating

Nylon glass fiber is a white powder, compared with ordinary plastic, its tensile strength, bending strength has been increased, the thermal deformation temperature and the modulus of the material has been increased, the shrinkage rate of the material has been reduced, but the surface has become rough, the impact strength has been reduced. The thermal deformation temperature of the material is 110℃, which is mainly used in the fields of automobiles, home appliances and consumer electronics.

There are many kinds of colors of ABS materials, such as ivory, white, black, dark gray, red, blue, rose red, etc., which are widely used in the field of automobiles, home appliances, and consumer electronics. Duo adhuc noluisse incorrupte.

PC material is a true thermoplastic material, with all the characteristics of engineering plastics: high strength, high temperature resistance, impact resistance, resistance to bending, and can be used as a final component. The samples made of PC materials can be directly assembled and used in the transportation and home appliance industries. The color of PC material is relatively simple, only white, but its strength is about 60% higher than ABS material, with super strong engineering material properties, widely used in consumer electronics, home appliances, automobile manufacturing, aerospace, medical equipment and other fields.

PC-ABS material is a widely used thermoplastic engineering plastic. Pc-abs has the toughness of ABS and the high strength and heat resistance of PC materials, which are mostly used in the automotive, home appliances and communication industries. Samples made with this material in conjunction with FORTUS equipment are about 60% stronger than parts made with traditional FDM systems, so PC-ABS can be used to print thermoplastic parts including concept models, functional prototypes, manufacturing tools and final parts.
